It also reminds me of my grandpa. The man loved tomatoes so much he ate ketchup on sliced tomatoes! Ever see a guy eat pancakes with syrup and ketchup? I have! ;-)

My fav. is Granny's summer cottage! It reminds me of my summer vacations as a kid down in the sandy beaches of North Carolina. (and the loud slap of slamming screen doors as I raced down the deck stairs to the foamy ocean!) Doorway The Green Thumb -- there is something about a closed door that invites speculation and intrigue. And like a good book, it captures your attention and draws you in before you realize, or have time to analyze what it is that has captivated you so completely. This is what I see in this painting. It is beautiful and mysterious. I love the piece.

Erin, I love the partial cow portrait. I love that even with just that small portion of its face, it expresses so much. You have to look twice to make it out, almost an abstract, and I love the vibrant colors.

My name is Erin, and I was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease and my husband keeps saying that the kitchen is "Erin's kitchen" because I am cooking EVERYTHING now and creating a lot of dishes! I love the sunflowers in the print and the other print was No Gluten Needed. Isn't that the truth!

ReplyDeleteGranny's Summer Cottage Doorway. How man times have I walked through that doorway. It is a portal to memories of love from days past. This work invokes the senses, I smell the cedar chest, hear the creaking hinges and twang of the spring that draws the door closed and I feel the squeeze of my grandmother's hand as she tucks the change knotted in a handkerchief sending me off to the corner store. it's definitely a doorway to love.
ReplyDeleteFloral art fantasy is my favourite, though very difficult to choose. All of your paintings are so carefree, light and colourful, almost playful. It is this quality that is especially captured in the floral fantasy where the spring feeling of excited expectation and marvellous colours of the crocuses all compound to make me skip with joy inside.

Oh lord. I hate high heeled shoes. The teetering. The tottering. The falling off sidewalks and into bushes and things. That time in Vegas with the broken heel and the 2 mile walk at 2 AM. That time at my cousin's wedding with all the rice on the church stairs and a vertical trajectory and my dress suddenly over my head and please-forgive-me-for-flashing-you-
ReplyDeleteVirgin-Mary. High heeled shoes are evil. And pointy. And... sexy. And kinda kick ass. And so hard to resist. High heeled shoes have the kind of power that makes you stop on the sidewalk and stare a little with your mouth open, until suddenly you're inside flashing credit cards and breathing giddily and when are you outside in the broad daylight ecstatic with your beautiful new pumps, 5 inches and shiny and pink and satin and a cute bow and seductive little straps... you remember. Oh yeah, I hate high heels.
I love the Calla Lily Stilettos Print. It's gorgeous. If it were a real shoe, it would already be on my feet. Or at least, lying in the bushes somewhere nearby my feet (and myself). :)
