Art & Literature Giveaway!

First there was bacon and eggs, then peanut butter and jelly, then rhythm and blues, and now at long last, the teaming of Erin (illustrator) and Roy (author) to host an Art & Literature Giveaway. The lucky winner will receive a copy of the novel Patches of Grey by Roy L. Pickering Jr. AND a print of their choice from Erin’s Etsy shop.

Here’s how you play, folks. Go to ErinGoPaint, look through all of the listed items, return to this blog entry and post a comment stating what your favorite piece is. The randomly selected participant will win a copy of the print they chose ALONG WITH a copy of Roy’s book.

Only one comment per person on the blog is allowed, but additional entries can be made on Twitter by cutting & pasting the following tweet: A&L Giveaway - Win Patches of Grey by @authorofpatches & a print of your choice by @gfillustrator at http://tinyurl.com/lwvjbj
Each retweet of this message will be considered as an additional entry.

A minimum of 30 unique comments at the contest blog post is required for a lottery winner to be drawn. This contest runs July 27th through August 16th. Please leave an email address in your comment unless you are sure your link will lead to a web page where contact information can be obtained. Good luck.

This is wonderful to have both artistic expression joined as one: print art and book.

Art I was flabbergasted by was the lion portrait, since I love Lions and Tigers.

I also interested in reading "Patches of Grey" too since I am an author, avid reader, and book reviewer! Thanks for this opportunity and good luck to your future endeavors.

It also reminds me of my grandpa. The man loved tomatoes so much he ate ketchup on sliced tomatoes! Ever see a guy eat pancakes with syrup and ketchup? I have! ;-)

Cazutt said...‘Doorways of France’ was the painting that pulled me in. I enjoyed the air of mystery, of wondering what that door was hiding. A luscious garden, the artist said, so would I see colorful blooms, enjoy their scent, while I listen to the sound of birdsong? Maybe behind that door there stands a bench with lovers murmuring endearments to the backdrop of water trickling over rocks. I’m drawn in to the slats to see . . . but as a mere observer, I am condemned to linger forever outside.

My fav. is Granny's summer cottage! It reminds me of my summer vacations as a kid down in the sandy beaches of North Carolina. (and the loud slap of slamming screen doors as I raced down the deck stairs to the foamy ocean!) I bet there was a big blue hydrangea bush right outside the door, am I right? *sigh* And I can't wait to read Roy's book, I just read the first chapter on Amazon and I'm already hooked... :-) kate@katesdesigns.com

The Cow Portrait print: "How Now... Orange Cow" Is brilliant. She's not just peeking around a corner, her eye is a window to the world. The lines and colors vibrantly reveal your artistic skills and visions.

Thank you for posting.

Doorway The Green Thumb -- there is something about a closed door that invites speculation and intrigue. And like a good book, it captures your attention and draws you in before you realize, or have time to analyze what it is that has captivated you so completely. This is what I see in this painting. It is beautiful and mysterious. I love the piece.

Thank you for this opportunity -- both the book, and the art look captivating.

Erin, I love the partial cow portrait. I love that even with just that small portion of its face, it expresses so much. You have to look twice to make it out, almost an abstract, and I love the vibrant colors.

Erin,
My favorite is the Erin's Gluten Free Kitchen! My name is Erin, and I was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease and my husband keeps saying that the kitchen is "Erin's kitchen" because I am cooking EVERYTHING now and creating a lot of dishes! I love the sunflowers in the print and the other print was No Gluten Needed. Isn't that the truth!

Granny's Summer Cottage Doorway. How man times have I walked through that doorway. It is a portal to memories of love from days past. This work invokes the senses, I smell the cedar chest, hear the creaking hinges and twang of the spring that draws the door closed and I feel the squeeze of my grandmother's hand as she tucks the change knotted in a handkerchief sending me off to the corner store. it's definitely a doorway to love.

Floral art fantasy is my favourite, though very difficult to choose. All of your paintings are so carefree, light and colourful, almost playful. It is this quality that is especially captured in the floral fantasy where the spring feeling of excited expectation and marvellous colours of the crocuses all compound to make me skip with joy inside.

As for the book, what a wonderful prize - pick me :)

Oh lord. I hate high heeled shoes. The teetering. The tottering. The falling off sidewalks and into bushes and things. That time in Vegas with the broken heel and the 2 mile walk at 2 AM. That time at my cousin's wedding with all the rice on the church stairs and a vertical trajectory and my dress suddenly over my head and please-forgive-me-for-flashing-you-
Virgin-Mary. High heeled shoes are evil. And pointy. And... sexy. And kinda kick ass. And so hard to resist. High heeled shoes have the kind of power that makes you stop on the sidewalk and stare a little with your mouth open, until suddenly you're inside flashing credit cards and breathing giddily and when are you outside in the broad daylight ecstatic with your beautiful new pumps, 5 inches and shiny and pink and satin and a cute bow and seductive little straps... you remember. Oh yeah, I hate high heels.

I love the Calla Lily Stilettos Print. It's gorgeous. If it were a real shoe, it would already be on my feet. Or at least, lying in the bushes somewhere nearby my feet (and myself). :)
